My name is Chris and I created this space as a digital refuge from the algorithm. It is heavily inspired by the IndieWeb and the tildeverse, both of which celebrate the quirky DIY ethic and aesthetic of the late-90s web.
It also draws inspiration from simple text-based protocols like gopher and gemini, and this server has an active gopher interface (cryptid.town:70) if you know how to access it.
The hand-built personal website feels like a lost art, so I'm trying to create space for more people to learn how to make their own hand-built website.
